Dry needling therapy

DRY NEEDLING therapy is a procedure in which extremely fine, flexible needles are inserted into the soft tissue and “manipulated” to relax the muscle, relieve pain, and get rid of the pain caused by trigger points.

Dry Needling therapy is like a form of acupuncture, adapted to treat common health problems of our time. Traditional acupuncture is more about alleviating pain and discomfort by opening up a person’s energy flow (chi). Dry Needling therapy aims to apply directly to trigger points, to relieve muscle pain, spasms and relaxation by increasing the range of movement. It is like muscle stimulation. The term “dry” is due to the fact that no injections or liquids are administered into the body during this treatment.

Dry Needling needles are much thinner, more flexible and rounded rather than tapered with a sharp tip, so they are less painful to prick compared to conventional needles.

Very minor side effects are possible during this procedure: minor bruising, bleeding and temporary pain.

Dry Needling therapy is used for:

the treatment of painful soft tissue areas, i.e. trigger points, myofascial painful points, to release muscle knots after sports injuries, high physical exertion, to relieve tension and stiffness in soft tissue, to relieve fasciae, post-traumatic scars, ligaments, tendons, in cases of joint dysfunction, nerve entrapment, for headache, migraine, and other conditions.
